Manly Sea Eagles aim for their fifth consecutive victory when they take a home game to nib Stadium in Perth to face the New Zealand Warriors on Saturday in NRL Round 17 action.
Arguably the form team in the competition at present, Manly look to consolidate their spot inside the top four on Saturday against the erratic Warriors, who themselves are hoping to continue their push towards the top eight.
Unbeaten since Round 10, the Sea Eagles continue to surprise as the season rolls on, with last week’s commanding 35-18 triumph over reigning premiers Cronulla another illustration of their genuine premiership credentials in 2017.
That win lifted Manly ahead of the Sharks into fourth spot on the ladder, and with next two games against teams outside the top eight, the Sea Eagles have an excellent chance to lock down a top four spot as the business end of the season approaches.
Daly Cherry-Evans has returned to his best form this season and is finally playing like his lucrative contract says he should be, while Manly’s forward pack is underrated and dangerous. There’s not many sides that look better at the moment.
Meanwhile, it’s been more of the same from the Warriors so far this season – ridiculously inconsistent but showing glimpses of form you’d associate with a top four side when they get it right.
They will find the going tough on Saturday though, and they will need to overturn a horror run in Perth that has seen them go 0-8 when they’ve had to take the long flight out west. Manly are playing superb footy at the moment and have a great record against the Warriors. They should be too strong on Saturday night.
Lewis Brown replaces the injured Curtis Sironen in the starting side for Manly with Cameron Cullen joining the bench, while Nathaniel Roache comes in for the injured Issac Luke for the Warriors, while Kieran Foran also returns for the Kiwi club in the halves.
