Gloucester Rugby supporters will get a unique opportunity to see two of the teams who will be playing in Gloucester in Rugby World Cup 2015, when Tonga take on the USA at Kingsholm on Saturday November 15th.
Gloucester has been proud to host international sides at Kingsholm during the autumn period for several seasons now. Australia were the visitors back in 2009, Fiji in 2012 and Japan in 2013.
However, this occasion is slightly different as Gloucester Rugby were the opposition for the three afore-mentioned matches, whereas this game features two international sides.
Tonga, of course, are more than familiar with Kingsholm. They took on the England Saxons here back in 2011 and a number of their international stars call Gloucester home, namely Sione Kalamafoni, Aleki Lutui and Sila Puafisi.
Both teams will be looking to lay down a marker ahead of Rugby World Cup 2015, and perhaps gain some supporters amongst the locals ahead of the tournament. A fascinating match beckons.
Gloucester will be in Aviva Premiership action the previous evening, so it’s a great opportunity for rugby followers to get their rugby fix that weekend and watch international action at Kingsholm.
Tickets will be competitively priced – Adults can purchase a seat in the stands from £10 in advance or £15 on the day. An adult standing ticket will be £5 in advance and £10 on the day.
Meanwhile, children can watch for as little as £1. Tickets will be on sale from Thursday September 18th from the Ticket Office at Kingsholm. Call 0871 871 8781 to purchase by phone, or visit www.gloucesterrugby.co.uk.
CEO Stephen Vaughan told the club website today that he’s delighted to see international rugby return once again.
“It’s fantastic that we’ve been able to welcome so many international sides to Gloucester over the years. We’ve obviously got the stadium and facilities to host these games, but the passion for rugby locally is also a huge factor.
“This will be a chance for both Tonga and the USA to get to know Kingsholm a bit before the tournament kicks off in a year’s time, and a chance for local rugby fans to spot some of the potential stars of Rugby World Cup 2015.
“It should be a great game, and we’ve made ticket prices as attractive as possible in a bid to get as big a crowd as we can on the day.”
