Sydney Roosters play host to joint-competition leaders Penrith Panthers in arguably the match of Round 15 at Allianz Stadium on Friday night.
A heavyweight clash awaits in Round 15 of the NRL on Friday night as the Roosters and Panthers collide for a valuable two points.
It was a slow start to the season for the Roosters, especially coming off the prized high-profile recruits of James Tedesco and Cooper Cronk, but they’ve started to hit their straps over the last few weeks, winning five of their last six encounters to climb into sixth spot on the ladder.
However, three of those victories have been decided by two points, while they also rank eighth in scoring, so it’s safe to say the Roosters still have some work to do if they want to be considered among the premiership favourites.
Penrith are already among the leading contenders for the title after registering a 10-3 record to begin the season.
The Panthers are ranked first in defence and third in attack, while they are currently riding a four-match winning streak to sit in equal first place on the ladder alongside the Dragons.
But, there are still slight question marks surrounding the Panthers when it comes to the elite sides – they’ve only faced top eight opposition three times in 2018 for a 2-1 record.
I think the Roosters are a big chance as a result. Penrith weren’t at their best last week against the Raiders, while the Roosters are due a big win. I’m backing a low-scoring game and a Roosters triumph.
The Roosters have named the same 17 players from last week, while Jack Hetherington replaces the injured Viliame Kikau in the only change for Penrith.
