Australia Wallabies vs Ireland
Stadium : Aviva Stadium, Dublin, Ireland
Date : Saturday 16 November 2013
Time : 18: 45 (GMT)
Referee: Chris Pollock (New Zealand)
HEAD TO HEAD: Played: 30, Australia 20, Ireland 9, Drawn 1.
LAST TIME: Ireland 15 def Wallabies 6, September 17, 2011 at Auckland.
The Wallabies will face Ireland in their second Spring Tour match at Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Sunday November 17 at 4:45am AEDT (Saturday November 16 at 5:45pm local time).
WALKING WOUNDED: Ireland are poised to recall big guns Jonny Sexton, Paul O’Connell, Sean O’Brien and Cian Healy to their starting side to face the Wallabies but British and Irish Lions winger Tommy Bowe is in doubt with a calf injury.
Wallabies blindside flanker Scott Fardy is expected to return from a head knock suffered against England, with Rob Simmons to move back to starting lock at the expense of Sitaleki Timani.
FORM: Ireland made a winning start under new coach Joe Schmidt with a convincing 40-9 thumping of Samoa last weekend. The hosts ran in five-tries-to-nil to spark renewed optimism in Ireland after a disastrous Six Nations campaign that included losses to Scotland, Italy and England and cost Declan Kidney his job.
The Wallabies bounced back from their 20-13 loss to England with a thumping 50-20 victory over Italy. Ewen McKenzie’s men ran in seven tries to three in an impressive display against the lowly-ranked but dangerous Azzurri. The scrum was much improved, as was the work at the breakdown, while the backline showed what it is capable of when given decent ball.
